Reimagining Your Habits and Hobbies

The saying “New year, new you” is more than a cliché, it’s an opportunity to reimagine your daily routines and hobbies for greater personal fulfillment. Living in your power and purpose is about finding joy and happiness in everyday life and nurturing your sense of self. Remember you are in control.

If you want to improve your personal well-being, consider:

• Assessing your Current Habits: Identify which habits serve you and your best interest and also consider which habits you would like to change and why. Think about how you feel about the habits and whether it's energizing and elevating you are depleting and degrading you.

• Choosing One New Hobby: It may be time to revisit a passion you’ve set aside or learn a nezZZw skill. What's something you have always wanted to do or try but felt you didn’t have the time or were afraid of what others may think or what you may think of yourself? Make the time and do it anyway.

• Prioritize Self-Care: Schedule time either daily or weekly for activities that recharge you and bring you joy or peace. That may look like setting time aside for reading, crafting, or exercise. Identify what it means to take care of yourself in any moment when you feel it's needed.

• Set Realistic Goals: Start small and build consistency. Whether it’s improving fitness, learning a language, or decluttering learn into SMART: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound goals and track your progress.

• Embrace Rest: Plan and stick to downtime into your schedule. Rest isn’t laziness; it’s essential for personal growth. Resting goes beyond just getting sleep. In addition to physical rest, consider mental, emotional, social, sensory, creative, and spiritual rest to feel more recharged and renewed.

• Create a Vision Board: Whether using a physical poster board or using a visual creative tool sit and visualize the life you want to create to the point you can vividly see it in your imagination, capture it, and use it as inspiration for the year ahead. Let go of the compare and despair and focus on being better than you were the day before and day after day.

• Focus on Gratitude: This is simple yet often neglected in the chaos of moving day to day and from one activity to another. Stop and write down three things you’re thankful for each day to cultivate positivity.

Personal wellness is not about being selfish or dismissive, it's about intentionally thriving in the intricate balance of self-care, joy, and growth which enables you to flourish as the best version of yourself and thus of service to others you deem deserving of your time, efforts, and energy.
